Programs

Camp Gencheff offers a variety of year-round programs for adults and children with intellectual and physical disabilities.


Adult day program

  • Adults with intellectual and physical disabilities get vocational and life skill-building, with flexible programming that still provides new challenges, opportunities and experiences. 

  • Some of the programs offered include cooking classes, gardening, life skills building, exercise and fitness classes, vocational skills, and more.

  • Includes an opportunity for a work placement with our after-school group.

  • Year-round, Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Price is based on the client's needs.


After-school program

  • Interactive play, imagination and creativity that help clients build self-confidence with new skills, accomplishments, insights and collaboration. 

  • Includes gross and fine motor play, homework assistance, music, arts and crafts, sports, fitness, and life skill-building.

  • Year-round, Monday-Friday until 5:30 pm. $20.00 per day. 

  • Snacks are provided. Transportation options are available.


Children's summer day program

  • 10+ weeks of day camps that are creative, innovative and will engage your child in their interests while encouraging them to try something new. 

  • Last year’s activities included canoeing, swimming, trivia, nature walks, sports, bike riding and water games.

  • Each day of our program will feature daily exercises, two snack periods, a lunch period, quiet time, beach time (weather dependent), outdoor activities, arts and crafts, as well as special guests.

  • The program begins when the academic school year ends. Operating hours are Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm.


PD day program

  • Our Camp Days program occurs on scheduled professional development days and school breaks as outlined by the Prince Edward Island Public School Board.

  • Activities are fun and engaging while supporting skill development and learning.

  • On scheduled PD days, our program is open from 8 am to 5 pm. The cost is $75. Snacks are provided.


Overnight weekend respites

  • Respites give each client a unique opportunity to socialize and bond with other individuals, while parents and caregivers have a much-needed break.

  • Offered 2-3 times a month, for adults, teens, and children. 

  • Drop off is on the Friday of the respite at 6 pm.  Pick up is on Sunday at 2 pm.

Registration Process

  1. Contact us to express interest.

  2. We will send you an application form.

  3. ​After the application form has been received, a "Meet & Greet" will be scheduled with the guardian and the new client. This will allow intake staff to assess the needs and abilities of the new client and give the family, guardian, and client an opportunity to see and experience the programs in full swing.
