Interim Executive Director (1 year contract)- Camp Gencheff 

Job Description

 

Camp Gencheff is in search of an enthusiastic and passionate candidate to take on a one-year maternity leave for our existing executive director.  Camp Gencheff is a not-for-profit organization that offers year-round programs for children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities.  Camp Gencheff is located in Stratford, PE on a private 22-acre waterfront property.  

 

Prospective individuals should have: 

  • a background in management, experience coordinating a small to medium group of staff.  

  • The ability to carry out administrative duties, communicate well with guardians, parents, school administrators and social workers.  

  • Experience and knowledge in the field of Human Services and social work. 

 

The Interim Executive Director should be highly motivated to promote and market the Camp Gencheff brand with the use of social medias, fundraising and community awareness. 

 

Camp Gencheff operates various programs for both adults and children.  Operating these programs include some evenings, weekends and during school closures.  The Interim Executive Director will be required to work 40 hours per week as well as be available to staff for assistance while programs are operating.  Fundraising events both onsite and offsite may require the Interim Executive Director to play a key role in such events. 

 

As Interim Executive Director, you will report to the Board of Directors. You will be the leader of the organization, responsible for managing the overall operations of Camp Gencheff, as well as developing and managing new projects and initiatives.   Your role is to ensure effective and transparent management.  You will be responsible for administration, operations, financial planning, marketing, policy development, and overall management of resources and staff.  Furthermore, you will work with the Board on strategic initiatives with the operations manager and will be directly involved in executing strategic goals.

 

Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary degree in Business, Business Administration, Human Resources Management or Marketing OR a minimum of 2 year’s experience, training, and/or education in a management role with financial responsibilities.

  • Day-to-day computer skills, including document management, email, word processing (e.g., Word, Google Docs), presentation software (e.g., Google Slides, PowerPoint), social media, and virtual meeting software (e.g., Teams, zoom), excel and SAGE. 

  • Experience in leadership and management.   As the leader of the organization, you will need to be personable and approachable to our staff and clients and guardians.  Camp Gencheff is looking for a strong leader who is able to lead by example and have the ability to provide mentorship to our staff and clients, especially promoting and advocating for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities.  

  • Experience establishing relationships with stakeholders, clients, and partners. You will be responsible for establishing relationships with important organizations and partners in our local community.  We are looking for a leader that will engage with our community and advocate with clients and community groups who have intellectual and physical disabilities. 

 

 

  • Wage or salary will be based on the experience of the selected candidate.

Summer Activity Programmer 

Job Description

Responsible for overseeing the development and facilitation of daily summer activities for children and youth with intellectual and physical disabilities.  Programming must incorporate diverse, educational and safe activities which should be outdoor based with available options for indoor activities weather dependent. The Summer Activity Programmer will be responsible for having clear instructions for staff and clients to follow during activities.  Must be able to manage other staff appropriately and delegate tasks as required. Programs and budget must be approved by management staff before summer begins and during summer as changes are made.  Reporting any concerns, issues and updates to executive director and operations manager on a daily and weekly basis. Assisting with personal care as needed.  Administrative duties as required.  Must be able to take on a leadership role in order to facilitate and execute fun and enjoyable activities while including community organizations, groups or members to enhance programming. 

 

Availability and Operating Hours

Monday to Friday 8:00-5:00pm

Position runs June to September 2022

 

Qualifications 

  • Ability to work independently 

  • Leadership qualities

  • Up to date First Aid and CPR training

  • Fully Vaccinated (must have proof)

  • Must have experience working with children with intellectual and physical disabilities. 

  • Valid Driver’s licence with reliable vehicle

  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector

  • WHMIS certification

 

Salary or wage based on experience

 

Training will be provided on site for facility and organizational protocols and expectations.

After School Program Coordinator

 

Job Description

Responsible for overseeing daily activities, managing bus and transportation drop offs, preparing snacks to meet all dietary needs and proper nutrition, including picking up supplies, budgeting etc.  Clearly communicate all concerns and needs with guardians, youth service workers, social workers, or other as required.  Daily written communication and administrative duties as required.  Reporting any concerns or issues with executive director and operations manager on a daily and weekly basis. Assisting with personal care as needed.  Development and facilitation of diverse, educational, challenging and enjoyable programming and activities.  Managing of staff including scheduling, training, delegating tasks, communication etc.  

 

 

Availability and Operating Hours

 

Monday to Friday 2:00-6:00pm.  Available for Storm days, PD days and March Break Day Camps. 

  • Minimum of 20 hours per week

  • Position to begin training as soon as possible with end date in late June and to return in September 2022. 

 

 

Qualifications

CAMP GENCHEFF IS HIRING SUPPORT WORKERS AND ONE TO ONE WORKERS TO START IMMEDIATELY!

 

Camp Gencheff is a year-round facility for adults and children with intellectual and physical disabilities. We offer each client an opportunity to participate and develop physically and emotionally through a safe and fun camping experience.

 

SUPPORT WORKER 

We are presently looking for positive and enthusiastic support workers willing to work at our weekend respites and day programs! As a support worker, you will play an important role in providing a fun and safe environment for clients while giving quality care.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for up to 3 clients during work time (ratios will switch throughout the day)

  • Continually encourage and keep clients active and engaged in fun and challenging activities that meet clients’s needs while maintaining a safe environment

  • Follow direction from management, supervisors and health care workers

  • Follow and execute activities according to pre-designed daily programming plans

  • Provide personal care and dietary assistance to clients

  • Follow all camp policies and procedures

  • Cleaning duties that must be performed during and after camp

  • Responsible to assist in properly lifting/transfer clients

  • Interacting with clients and providing a fun camp experience

  • Work in a team environment

  • Administrative duties, as required

 

Qualifications:

  • A clear Criminal Background Check required

  • Must be over 18 years of age

  • Being a post-secondary student or graduate from a post-secondary institution and/or certificate in a related field would be an asset (ie: Human Services or Educational Assistant)

  • Experience working with people with disabilities is considered an asset

One to One Worker

 

We are looking for kind and understanding individuals who work as one-to-one workers during our weekend and day programs! As a one-to-one worker, you will be working with a child who has autism and high needs.  Our one-to-one workers must be able to adapt quickly and problem solve.

  • Responsible for working with one individual during the day
